Description:

We’re are looking for a Software Tester to join our internal development team working on existing and new, greenfield applications. These include a ticketing platform (www.ticketarena.co.uk), an analytical events management platform for promoters (www.eventgenius.co.uk) and several box offices (telegraphbespoke.eventgenius.co.uk¸ www.thewarehouseproject.com).

The candidate will be working in a development team loosely following Scrum with another Tester, JavaScript, C#, PHP and IOS developers.

Our Ideal Candidate:

  • You will have experience writing automated checks in C# or another object-orientated language
  • You’ll understand not to just automate all the things, just the things that count. You’ll despise flaky tests
  • You will appreciate monitoring as a form of Testing and be keen to contribute to the monitoring and alerting solution
  • You will have an attitude of working with the developers to make the application excellent, not trying to break the application to gain testing points
  • You will love exploratory testing and know when to apply it
  • You will be a generalising specialist. Testing is your true love but you’re ready to help out in other areas when required
  • You will appreciate open source tools
  • You will be able to demonstrate functionality and potential issues to stakeholders and developers
  • You will have a keen interest in CD and automated checks. You will want to work as a team to speed up delivery time to live, not be a gatekeeper of quality

Roles and responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the API automation suite – using Gauge and C#
  • To work within a multidisciplinary scrum team, with developers, designers, UX, product owners and business sponsors
  • Contribute to the monitoring and alerting solution, so far ELK and Runscope
  • Build automation – we use Octopus and Teamcity
  • Exploratory testing a PHP website and a react.js website
  • Performance testing and reporting results to the business

Required:

  • Strong communication skills
  • Solid understanding of Unix and Windows platforms
  • Excellent skills in an object-orientated language – preferably C# but Java or Ruby is also fine
  • API testing and automation experience
  • Basic SQL querying skills
  • Experience testing cloud based applications and deploying to the cloud

Desirable:

  • Mobile testing experience
  • Working knowledge and experience with Git
  • Understanding of Javascript to write basic UI smoke tests
  • Experience in writing BDD style tests
