In Conversation: Lauren Lytle, new Head of Technical Operations at Event Genius.
Written by Kevin Lawson, 12th March 2018
We’re delighted to announce that this February Laure Lytle joined Event Genius as our new Head of Technical Operations.
Based in our Leeds office, Lauren (and her golden labrador Goose) join us all the way from the US of A, where she has spent the last 7 years working as Senior Client Operations Manager & Director of International Operations at Front Gate tickets.
An industry expert in delivering RFID, POS and other event technology solutions, she has worked with some of the biggest stateside festivals brands including: Coachella, C3 Presents, Outside Lands, X Games Los Angeles and Bonnaroo Music + Arts Festival, and will lead the expansion of our Event Genius Pay (Cashless POS) services in the UK and other markets.
After giving her a few days to get settled, we caught up with Lauren over a cup of tea for a quick Q&A:
EG: Why did you choose to join Event Genius? What was it about the company or the challenge that attracted you?
Event Genius is a natural fit with my operational skill and desire to grow into the international festival space. My previous seven years at Front Gate gave me invaluable experience with both ticketing and innovative event technology, working with some of the biggest brands in North America. After directly managing clients like Coachella, Outside Lands, Bonnaroo, and EDC Las Vegas, bringing that knowledge overseas to a new company and helping it grow was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up.
EG: What initial improvements are you looking to make?
I’ve only been here a few days, but it’s been great to get hands-on with exciting technology like the company’s cashless POS solution - Event Genius Pay. The company is at the forefront of developing this type of technology and I’m hoping to bring new ideas to the table that reveal unexplored verticals to not just that product, but the entire Event Genius portfolio.
EG: What can any new client expect from you and your team?
I feel grateful to join such a reputable team, with both clients and fans alike. That kind of trust is invaluable and earned, so I aim to continue providing the same great level of service to both new and old clients, while continuously evolving to stay on the cutting edge of event technology.
EG: What do you hope to help Event Genius achieve in the next 12 months?
The most exciting prospect of this position is the chance to build the best operations team in the game. The people are what makes the company successful, and with the strong foundation of the Event Genius suite and support of the business to grow and expand, I think we have the opportunity to outpace other, less agile companies.
EG: We’re delighted you’ve decided to join the team at our Leeds head offices, but it can’t have been easy to leave Austin, Texas behind. What are you going to miss most? And what are you most excited to try here in sunny Yorkshire?
Besides the obvious things like my friends and family, I already miss proper breakfast tacos and Topo Chico (the best mineral water in the world) more than I can say! But I feel really lucky to be on this new adventure, and I’m making it a priority to explore as much as possible. Everything here has so much history - so much more than what you would encounter on a daily basis in the States, and it makes things really exciting.
